Coast/Beach

Rather like Angel's View itself, the climate at Salema is heavenly! Algarve gets more hours of sunshine each year than California. Average temperatures range from around 15℃ in December, January and February to 30℃ at the height of summer, although the cooling sea breezes ensure that it never becomes stiflingly hot. Even in March and November, the weather is often sunny enough, and the water warm enough for enjoyable swimming in the sea, and some hardy souls swim all the year round.

Salema is an EU award-winning beach for its safe, gentle swimming – ideal for small children and families.

Salema Autumn Beach
Autumn beach

Figueira, about a mile along the coast, offers total seclusion at the bottom of a delightful little valley. There is a ruined fort on the cliffs above the beach to add a further touch of romance. Because of the walk, it is never crowded and frequently deserted, although its seclusion does attract the occasional naturist. There are just too many lovely beaches to mention – all different.

Odeceixe Beach
Odeceixe – the last beach in the Algarve before the Aletejo! Well worth a visit.
